Exploring the city of Shanghai right now may leave you a little frustrated, due to the massive construction effort being undertaken for Expo 2010. Poised to put Shanghai on the map, as the 2008 Olympics did for Beijing, development has been compared to Boston’s Big Dig, beautifying the area around The Bund.
For now, the views of the beautiful Shanghai skyline are obstructed heavily by cranes and construction site walls. For a stunning view of the city, we took time to visit the world’s highest observatory atop the Shanghai World Financial Center.
Timing our visit right before sunset allowed us both a day and night view. The day view was disappointing due to the heavy haze of pollution, but the illuminations provided by the city lights were impressive.
Admission relative to most other options was also a bit pricey, at 110 Yuan per person.
Wow – awesome pics B!
