It’s so good to see you guys, it’s been forever! Your kids are adorable!! I have just started to plan a trip to Yellowstone this June. Any ideas as to where we should stay? I’d like to do Grand Teton park also. Bummer is that Jackson Hole airport is closed this spring so we will have to fly into Bozeman or Idaho Falls. All park hotels are booked already or don’t have private bathrooms which I require :).
Jean! Great to hear from you! We hope you are still giving the young guns a run for the money and continue to play ALTA. 🙂 So….National Parks and Luxury are not always synonymous, unfortunately. Any of the lodges/inns inside the parks always seem to be pretty amazing, mostly for the convenience. However, the lodge at Yellowstone is a true wonder that you have to experience. If they are booked up, I recommend checking regularly for cancellations. Campgrounds are your next bet, but alas, no private bathrooms, and they also tend to fill up very quickly. When the sites open for reservations you have a few hours really to book something good, if that. So, definitely find out exact day/time they are released and it’s like trying to buy concert tickets on ticketmaster (refresh…please let me buy!). There are some small towns outside the main entrances to the Yellowstone, they too have some accommodations, so I would check there, but they are usually pretty old school (no online reservations) and are less convenient, as they add to your drive times during the day. Here is an idea…consider renting a nice RV (you can find them on RVShare) for your excursion…and guess what, private bathroom. 🙂 Lots of the the RVShare folks will literally meet you at the airport with the RV and you can drop back off at the airport. Good luck and happy camping! Hope to see you in the future if we head down to ATL area…if you are ever in the Raleigh area, let us know. 🙂 Until next time!
